Situated in the town centre, the department store was £3m refurbishment project over an 18 month period. Throughout this time the store remained trading, relying on close relations between client, architect and builder. The initial stage was awarded through negotiation on a traditional basis the later stages were target cost sums. As works progressed early contractor design input was essential to meet timescales and budgets.
